The Church’s four weeks of Advent come late to the “holiday season”.
The Decorations Shop at Macy’s opened on September 24th. Home Depot cranked up the music a few days later. Preparations for the celebrations have begun.
Advent elbows its way in to remind us that it is the Incarnation of God that we celebrate; that it is
that we long for. These are the only gifts that we really want and truly need.
In Church, the Christmas Season hangs on bravely for a few days past December 24th .
The stores and streets move on.
It is Jesus who remains, like the evergreen,
through breeze and storm and heat and cold sun and dark, through every season of our lives.
May we enjoy the season and all it promises.
May we encounter Jesus who remains ….always.
Fr. Ken Simpson
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring glad tidings, announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation… (Isaiah 52,7. From the readings for Mass on Christmas Day)
Our parish is a messenger of the good news to members, guests and visitors and people who never enter our beautiful church. We are committed as an act of faith to reach beyond our immediate needs to the hopes and sleepless nights of others. Nourished by prayer, gifted by service, stretched by our giving, we respond to the call to be the beautiful feet of the ever present God.
Please include Saint Clement Parish on your gift list. We depend on each other to be able to continue our ministry of good news. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity.
