Music Ministers
About Music Ministry
Our music ministry exists first and foremost to glorify God. It is formed in the image of Christ and the traditions of his Church. Our primary role is in the context of the liturgy through sung prayer. We strive for musical excellence knowing that beauty is a gift from God, and that good music helps us to encounter the divine. Whether you are an accomplished musician or an enthusiastic amateur, there is a place for you in our music ministry. Though we strive for excellence, you’ll find that each ensemble provides a welcoming and supportive environment.
Schola Clementis Choir
Schola Clementis sings at the 11:15am Sunday Mass, October through Corpus Christi (mid-June). Rehearsals are held on Sunday morning at 9:30am. This ensemble explores a wide breadth of repertoire, rooted in Catholic tradition. This ensemble rehearses at a relatively quick pace, so the ability to read music is required. Membership is open to all singers by audition.
Chapel Choir
The Chapel Choir is a vocal and instrumental ensemble at the 9:30am Sunday service, October through May. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm. Membership is open to all singers by audition.
Jubilate Children’s Choir
All young singers in grades 3-8 are invited to join Jubilate Children’s Choir! Rehearsals will take place at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday morning, and the choir will sing for the 9:30 a.m. Mass in church. In addition to the hymns for Mass, there will be opportunities to learn special music, featured pieces, solos, duets, and participate in the parish Christmas Concert. New members are invited to try it out before committing.
Seraphim Choir
Seraphim sings at the 7pm Sunday Mass and is especially popular with young adults. Rehearsals are held at 5:30pm on Sunday. Membership is open to all singers and instrumentalists. Music reading is helpful but not required, especially for those with a good ear. Instrumentalists should be able to read music and play with good tone and pitch.
Orchard Street Worship (O.S.W.)
O.S.W. Is our Praise & Worship ensemble which provides music for our 4:30pm Sunday Mass. This group utilizes drum, guitar, synth, and vocals, and sings contemporary Christian music. They rehearse at 3:30pm on Sundays.
Concert Choir
The Concert Choir is made up of singers from all of our parish ensembles and beyond. This group sings for special events such as our annual All Souls Day Requiem and performance of Handel’s Messiah.
Cantors
Cantors provide musical leadership at all our liturgies and encourage the assembly to pray through singing. Cantors should be able to read music and prepare independently. This ministry is open to singers by audition.
Instrumentalists
Members of the community are invited to share their musical gifts at all our Masses. Instrumentalists should be able to read music and play with good tone and pitch.
