Friday Sack Lunches & Hospitality
For many years, Saint Clement parishioners have generously prepared sack lunches for the hungry, which are distributed from the parish every Friday morning.
Before we distribute the lunches, we provide breakfast and hospitality to our brothers and sisters in need as they wait in line.
Please note, we are expanding our sack lunch opportunities! In addition to our usual Friday sack lunch distribution, we are planning to commit to providing lunch once a week to each of the homeless shelters run by Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS).
Monthly Food Drive
Help feed the hungry in our community! Saint Clement will continue its monthly food drive on the last weekend of every month. Donations of nonperishable food items can be placed in the labeled bin in the parish office during open hours. Donations will be distributed to local food pantries in need. Thank you for your support!
JANUARY FOOD DRIVE — Jan. 25/26
Our donations for the month of January will go to House of the Good Shepherd.
FEBRUARY FOOD DRIVE — Feb. 22/23
Our donations for the month of February will go to Mission of Our Lady of the Angels (MOLA).

40 Years of Faith in Action: LPCS Anniversary Soup Gathering
February 12, 6:00-7:30 p.m., Saint Clement Chapel
FEBRUARY 12, 1985: It was 20 degrees, with winds gusting off Lake Michigan at 30 mph that night when Saint Clement first opened the doors of the downstairs chapel at Deming and Orchard Streets to welcome three homeless men (Henry, Tony, and Jim) to stay overnight, warm and safe. “Faith in Action” showed another of its many faces in the Saint Clement and Lincoln Park communities that night: five people showed up to keep watch! (Only two needed to stay.)
FEBRUARY 12, 2025: You’re invited – forty years from that night – a Wednesday night, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to come to the chapel for a cup of bean soup (the first meal offered to the homeless Guests), and to celebrate an ongoing and inspiring commitment to helping the most vulnerable among us.
“Why me?” you ask. Whether you were an overnight volunteer in the 80’s, a donor of warm winter clothing in the 90’s, a meal provider in the 2000’s, a fundraiser in the ‘teens, a tutor or mentor since 2020, or a contributor to the “Clement Commits” program anywhere along the line, you were, and are, part of the Lincoln Park Community Services family. Hundreds of you have helped thousands of homeless men and women! We want you to break bread together, have a cup of soup, reminisce with each other—and have a simple, good time.
Dozens of veteran volunteers already plan to be there. Please RSVP to George Kuhlman (gkuhlman415@gmail.com, or voice message at 773-388-3883) whether you can attend by Wednesday, February 5.

La Salle) by 3:30 p.m., will begin serving at 5:00 p.m., and be wrapping up by 6:30 at the latest. Contact Christa Kingsley to sign up!

Time: 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Location: Catholic Charities, 721 N. LaSalle (between Huron & Superior)
Parking: Free on site
Become a Clement Navigator!
Adult parishioners are invited to become Saint Clement Navigators.
What is the the Navigator Program?
It is a parish-wide initiative to match new parishioners to an established parishioner who will:
Provide a personal face of welcome.
Get to know the new parishioner and their hopes/desires for engagement with the parish and for discipleship in the parish.
Provide guidance, navigation, and invitations to parish events over the newcomer’s first 6 months as a parishioner.
Love Your Neighbor Ministry
Love Your Neighbor is a ministry created especially for our parish family. We strive to fulfill the spiritual and material needs of our community and foster a sense of family support. We invite all members of our community to join us in growing together as a parish family. Opportunities include Ministry of Care and more.
Our Lady of the Angels
Our Lady of the Angels is located in the Humboldt Park area of the city providing resources to those who are materially poor and sharing the Gospel with those they encounter. Right now, Our Lady of the Angels is needing volunteers on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays. Volunteer opportunities include working in the food pantries and after school programs. At this time, they are only allowing for adult volunteers. Please visit their volunteer page to sign-up!
St. Mary of the Lake service opportunity
Saint Mary of the Lake in Uptown runs a weekly soup kitchen on Wednesday nights. With the growing number of refugees from South and Central America, the needs of the pantry continue to grow. As a part of this program, volunteers also provide sack lunches to the guests at the soup kitchen. These sack lunches ensure each guest who comes to the soup kitchen for dinner may also have a meal to-go. Volunteers may signup to provide 5 sack lunches by emailing Joe Henry.
House of Good Shepherd - Welcome Desk Volunteer(s) Needed
House of the Good Shepherd is currently looking for volunteers to serve as front welcoming desk support at House of Good Shepherd. The schedule for this volunteer role would be the following: Tuesday - Friday 12:00 -1:00pm.
They will train any volunteers interested and of course welcome volunteers for 1, several, or each day, or multiple volunteers across the days. Please contact Brittany McGhee 312-282-5104 if interested.
The mission of the House of the Good Shepherd is to serve with love and compassion any women and children affected by domestic violence by offering a safe place with opportunities for emotional, educational, and spiritual growth, giving hope and continued support for a better future.
